AI Recipe Generator From Ingredients: How a Fridge Photo Becomes Dinner

Step 1: the photo becomes an ingredient list

A vision model looks at your fridge or pantry photo and lists the foods it can recognise: "cherry tomatoes", "cheddar", "eggs". It cannot see inside opaque containers, so FridgeChef marks unsure items and lets you fix the list before cooking.

Step 2: the list becomes recipes

A language model then plans dishes that use as much of your list as possible, assumes basic staples (salt, pepper, oil, spices), and tells you the few things you are missing. FridgeChef returns three different dinners sorted by cook time.

Tips for better results

• Open the fridge door wide and use good light; take a second photo of the pantry or door shelves.
• Remove anything that is wrong and add things the camera cannot see, like the leftovers in a tub.
• Mark what needs using first so recipes are built around it.
• Set dietary needs (vegetarian, high-protein, dairy-free) so every idea fits.

What AI recipe tools cannot do
